INTRO

Lamentations

CHORUS

I’m praying the same prayer that Jeremiah prayed

I have the same lamentations of Jeremiah

Hear my prayer oh Lord

Hear my cry

Avenge me speedily

Oh Lord I have the same lamentation

Of the prophet Jeremiah

VERSE 1

Lamentations of Jeremiah the prophet of the Lord

Thou hast heard their reproach, O Lord,

And all their imaginations against me;

The lips of those that rose up against me,

And their device against me all the day

Behold their sitting down, and their rising up, I am their musick.

Render unto them a recompence, O Lord

According to the work of their hands.

Give them sorrow of heart,

Thy curse unto them.

Persecute and destroy them in anger

From under the heavens of the Lord.

For what their hands have done

Put a veil over their hearts

May your curse be upon them

Pursue them in anger from the heavens

CHORUS

I’m praying the same prayer that Jeremiah prayed

I have the same lamentations of Jeremiah

Hear my prayer oh Lord

Hear my cry

Avenge me speedily

Oh Lord I have the same lamentation

Of the prophet Jeremiah

INTERLUDE

Lamentations of Jeremiah the prophet of the Lord

You Lord took up my case; you redeemed my life.

Lord, you have seen the wrong done to me

Uphold my cause!

You have seen the depths of their vengeance

And all their plots against me

Lord, you have heard their insults

All their plots against me

While my enemies whisper and mutter against me all day long

Look at them! Sitting or standing, they mock me in their songs.

Pay them back what they deserve, O Lord,

For what their hands have done.

Put a veil over their hearts, and

May your curse be on them!

Pursue them in anger from the heavens

CHORUS

I’m praying the same prayer that Jeremiah prayed

Oh Lord I have the same lamentations of Jeremiah

Hear my prayer, O Lord

Hear my cry

Avenge me speedily

Oh Lord I have the same lamentations

Of the prophet Jeremiah

INTERLUDE

The thing that hath already been

It is that which shall be

And that which has been done

Is that which shall be done:

There’s no new thing under the sun

Whereof it may be said

See, this is new?

It hath already been of old time

CHORUS

I’m praying the same prayer that Jeremiah prayed

I have the same lamentations of Jeremiah

Hear my prayer oh Lord

Hear my cry

Avenge me speedily

Oh Lord I have the same lamentation

The lamentations of the prophet

INTERLUDE
